Many people have a method that they use when they bet on horse races. Though it may just be a way that developed over the years, it is their personal method and seems like a system to them. But using a system and being systematic may be slightly different. It isn’t just a matter of semantics. If you have milestones and steps along the way, no matter what you are doing, then you are using a systematic approach. When you bet on the races, do you do it with a way of measuring your success? Expensive hobbies are okay, if you can afford them, but hobbies that pay you to play them are even better.

If you want to make money with your efforts at the races I advise you to use a systematic approach. That means keeping notes and measuring the results you get and that means a good system. Finding a good system and then using it until you can refine it to suit your own taste is what will make you successful. You can take the time to invent and design your own system form the very ground up, but that is a lot like trying to invent the wheel. It has already been done. People who try to invent something that has already been invented are usually delusional or egotistical. People who see what other people have done and chose from what is available then tweak it to make it even better are the true innovators and also have a lot more fun and less work in their lives.

To sum it up, find a good system that has steps and measurable milestones so you can make enough profit to stay in the game and enjoy your days at the races.
